Okara, Pakistan: A 17-year-old youth suffered severe burn injuries after an unidentified suspect allegedly poured petrol on him and set him on fire in Village 54/2-L, within the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station, Okara.
According to initial reports, the victim, identified as Abu Bakar, was attacked in broad daylight. Hearing his cries for help, local residents rushed to the scene and attempted to extinguish the flames before emergency responders arrived.
Rescue 1122 reached the location promptly, provided emergency first aid, and shifted the critically injured youth to DHQ Hospital, Okara. Medical officials stated that nearly 70 percent of his body sustained burn injuries.
The suspect managed to flee the scene immediately after the attack.
Police at Saddar Police Station, Okara, have registered a case under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (Attempted Murder) along with other relevant legal provisions. Investigators are working to identify and arrest the accused.
Due to the absence of a dedicated Burn Unit at DHQ Hospital, Okara, the victim faced additional difficulties in receiving specialized treatment and was referred to a higher medical facility for advanced care.
The victim remains in critical condition, while police continue their investigation into the incident.
