Asim Munir Vows to Hit India-Backed Terrorists Hard

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Corps Headquarters in Peshawar on Friday, where he was briefed on the security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Field Marshal was briefed on the prevailing security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of formations deployed in the province. He was received on arrival by the Peshawar Corps commander.

Field Marshal Munir commended the high morale and professionalism of officers and troops, directing them to maintain vigilance and the highest standards of operational readiness to counter threats effectively.

He underscored that the military would continue the campaign against Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits “to the fullest and hit them hard wherever they are”, the ISPR statement said.

Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the people of Pakistan, including the Shuhada and Ghazis of the security forces, he affirmed that with the support of the people, Pakistan would surely inflict total defeat on the terrorists and their perverted ideology.

The visit came a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the Federal Apex Committee at the Governor’s House in Peshawar, attended by top civil and military leaders. The prime minister announced a Rs160 billion development package for the province and defended the imposition of governor’s rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing the deteriorating law and order situation.
