Pakistan will look to tighten their grip on the tri-series when they take on England in the second one-day international at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today.
The toss is set for 12:30pm Pakistan time, with the first ball to be bowled at 1pm. Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the home side against an England team opening their campaign under captain Harry Brook.
Pakistan made a commanding start to the three-nation event, posting 305 before dismissing Sri Lanka for 268 to seal a 37-run victory in the opener. Skipper Salman Ali Agha led from the front with a superb 107, earning the player-of-the-match award and setting the tone for the hosts.
A second straight win today would put Pakistan within touching distance of the final, scheduled for 31 October in Lahore, and heap early pressure on England and Sri Lanka in the race for the decider.
England, fielding a youthful squad under Brook, will be eager to make an immediate statement. The tourists hold a clear edge in the head-to-head record, with 57 wins from 92 one-day internationals against Pakistan, who have 32 victories while three matches ended without a result.
Conditions in Rawalpindi look ideal, with clear skies and temperatures around 26 degrees forecast, leaving little threat of weather disruption.
The match will be shown live on PTV Sports HD and Geo Super in Pakistan, on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and on Sony Sports in India.
Pakistan’s campaign began with Agha’s century powering the side to 305 before the 37-run win was sealed.
